Is A level Mathematics hard?
A level Mathematics is a Level 3 academic qualification and is at the same difficulty as the same A level taught in any UK school or sixth-form college. Most learners study around 8 to 12 hours per week and complete in 12 to 18 months.
How old do I need to be?
Open to anyone aged 14 or over. Under 18s enrol with a parent or guardian's permission and support. There are no formal entry qualifications.
How is the A level assessed?
Through external written exams sat in May or June at an approved exam centre. There are no controlled assessments or coursework, exams are 100% of your grade.
When can I sit the exams?
A Levels are examined once a year, in the May/June series. All papers are sat in the same series, and any non-exam assessment is submitted in the same year. On +Exams we enter you and book your seat at a Tutors & Exams centre for the series you are ready for; on Study you can arrange your own entry as a private candidate.
Where will I sit the exams?
At one of the ten Tutors & Exams centres across England: Birmingham, Bolton, Coventry, Doncaster, High Wycombe, Mitcham, Newcastle, Romford, St Neots and Taunton. Use the centre finder on this page to see your nearest. Exams are always sat in person at an approved centre; no A Level can be sat online.

On Study you can enter yourself at a centre that accepts private candidates; you are responsible for that entry, the fees and any non-exam assessment arrangements.
Are these A levels accepted by UK universities?
Yes. Our A Levels are awarded by AQA (WJEC Eduqas for Film Studies) and are identical to those taught in UK schools and colleges. UK universities assess the grade and subject on your certificate, not where you studied, and the grades earn the same UCAS points (up to 56 per A Level at A*). Check the entry requirements of the course you want.
How long does an A level take?
You typically study one A level in 12 to 18 months. Many learners take two or three A levels alongside each other across two years to apply for university the following autumn.
How many papers are there in A level Maths?
Three. AQA A level Maths (7357) is assessed by three written papers, each two hours long and worth 100 marks. Paper 1 covers pure mathematics, Paper 2 covers pure mathematics and mechanics, and Paper 3 covers pure mathematics and statistics. All three are sat at the end of the course.
