Answers

Studying in London, answered.

Where do I sit my GCSE exams in London?

You sit written GCSE exams at one of three Lift-partnered Tutors and Exams centres in London: Mitcham (CR4 3AE), Battersea (SW11 5TN) or Romford (RM1 3DA). You pick your centre when you book your exam entry, usually 3 to 4 months before the exam window.

Which A-Level subjects have practicals in London?

Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) require the CPAC practical endorsement, which runs over two consecutive days in May at Sutton, Norwood or Mitcham. All three labs are within 45 minutes of central London by rail.

How much do exam fees cost in London?

Written exam fees are set by the exam board and are the same nationally, typically £45 to £75 per GCSE unit and £65 to £110 per A-Level unit. You pay the exam centre directly for the sitting. CPAC practicals for sciences carry an additional fee of around £120 per subject.

Can I take my exams if I do not live near Mitcham, Battersea or Romford?

Yes. Lift College works with 42 partnered exam centres across the UK, so if none of the London options suit you can sit your exams anywhere on the network at no extra charge. Common London-adjacent options include Reading, Guildford, Slough and Watford.

When do I need to enrol to sit exams in summer 2027?

The entry deadline for summer 2027 is 21 February 2027. To be ready in good time we recommend enrolling on your GCSE or A-Level by November 2026. Early enrolment also unlocks the 7-day free trial and the 14-day money-back guarantee.
