Why this training matters
If you work with children or adults at risk, you need to know what abuse and neglect can look like, and what to do. In England, the Children Act 2004 requires many organisations to make arrangements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. They include local authorities, NHS bodies and the police. Working Together to Safeguard Children is the statutory guidance on how agencies work together. For adults, section 42 of the Care Act 2014 sets out when a local authority must make safeguarding enquiries. It applies to adults with care and support needs at risk of abuse or neglect. Scotland and Wales have their own safeguarding guidance. Safeguarding Adults and Children Training is a clear starting point for anyone in a role with contact with the public. The Level 2 and Level 3 courses follow safeguarding competency levels. Level 2 suits most staff who have contact with children or adults at risk. Level 3 is for people who work closely with them and help assess and act on concerns. New to care? The Care Certificate covers the knowledge behind all 16 standards, and your employer observes your practice and signs it off. Every course ends with a CPD certificate issued by Lift College the day you pass.
