Time Management Course
You can do a time management course online in the UK with Lift College's Time Management Course. It is 2 hours of learning in 5 short modules, covering where your time actually goes, how to decide what matters most, planning a realistic day and week, dealing with interruptions, email and meetings, saying no without falling out with people, and building a personal system you will still be using in six months. It costs £19.99, pay once, and your CPD certificate issued by Lift College is ready the same day you pass. Lift College recommends a refresh every 3 years, and the refresher is free.
Poor time management is not a personal failing; it is usually the result of too many demands, unclear priorities and constant interruption. HSE's Management Standards name demands and control as two of the six areas of work design that, handled badly, lead to work-related stress, and HSE's own figures show stress, depression or anxiety make up around half of all work-related ill health cases in Great Britain. People who feel in control of their workload take fewer days off, make fewer mistakes and are easier to work with. The Working Time Regulations 1998 set limits on hours and rights to rest for a reason: long hours do not produce more good work, they produce tired people.
This course covers the practical side of managing your time at work. You learn how to track where your hours go, how to separate urgent from important, how to plan a day that survives contact with reality, how to protect blocks of focused time, how to handle email, meetings and people who drop by, and how to set up a simple system of lists, calendar and review that fits the way you work. It is written for anyone in a UK workplace, whether you manage a team, work alone or are returning to work after a break.
- Explain where your working time goes and identify the habits and interruptions that waste it
- Apply a simple method to separate urgent tasks from important ones and decide what to do first
- Plan a realistic day and week with time for focused work, routine tasks and the unexpected
- Recognise the common causes of procrastination and apply practical ways to start and finish tasks
- Describe how to manage email, meetings and interruptions without losing track of your own work
- Identify when and how to say no, delegate or renegotiate a deadline
- Describe the limits and rest rights in the Working Time Regulations and why breaks improve output
- Build a personal time management system of lists, calendar and weekly review that you will keep using
5 short modules, 2 hours in total.

Working Time Regulations 1998
Applies in Great Britain. Most workers cannot be required to work more than an average of 48 hours a week unless they have opted out in writing, are entitled to a 20 minute rest break when the working day is longer than 6 hours, to 11 hours' rest between working days and to a weekly rest period, and to 5.6 weeks' paid annual leave. Northern Ireland has its own Working Time Regulations with the same main limits.
Read the legislation →Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
Applies in England, Wales and Scotland. Employers must ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of their employees, which includes their mental health and the effects of workload and long hours (section 2). Northern Ireland has the same duty in the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978.
Read the legislation →HSE Management Standards for work-related stress
Not law, but HSE's guidance on how employers meet their legal duty to assess and control the risk of work-related stress. The six standards cover demands, control, support, relationships, role and change. Demands and control are the two most closely linked to time management: workloads should be achievable and people should have a say in how they do their work.

What our learners say
Stories from Lift College learners on our qualifications, in their own words.
“I had been a care assistant for four years without a formal qualification. Lift College made the whole process straightforward, my assessor visited regularly and I completed my Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care in just over a year. I was promoted to senior care worker the month after I qualified.”
“My employer was clear, I needed GCSE English to move into a supervisory role. Lift College helped me find the right exam board and an exam centre five minutes from home. Passed grade 4. Got the promotion.”
“My employer needed me to have Level 2 maths before they could register me on the Level 3 apprenticeship programme. Lift College was fast, the tutor was brilliant, and I resit my maths once after a near-miss and passed the second time. The whole thing took twelve weeks.”
Questions about Time Management Course
Is an online time management course worth doing?
Yes, if you put the techniques into practice. The course is built around methods you can start using the same day: a time log, a priority grid, a weekly plan and a daily list of three. Your employer decides what training it expects, and a CPD certificate shows you have covered the subject properly.
Who needs time management training?
Anyone whose day is not fully structured by someone else. That includes team leaders and managers, people who work from home or alone, self-employed people, administrators juggling several people's demands and anyone starting a new role with more responsibility. It is also useful for people returning to work after a break.
How often should I refresh time management training?
There is no legal interval. Habits slip and jobs change, so Lift College recommends a refresh every 3 years, and the refresher is free. Many learners also re-read the planning module when they change role.
What does this course not cover?
It is not a project management course and does not teach project planning software, Gantt charts or formal methods. It does not cover managing other people's time or performance in depth, and it is not a treatment for stress or anxiety; if workload is affecting your health, speak to your manager or GP. It gives you the knowledge and methods; your employer decides what else your role needs.
How do I manage my time when I am interrupted all day?
Module 4 covers this directly. You learn to batch email and messages into set times, turn off notifications, agree with colleagues when you can be interrupted and when you cannot, and protect at least one block of focused time each day. You also learn how to write down an interruption and return to your task rather than switching completely.
How long do I keep access?
You keep your access for as long as Lift College offers the course, and never less than 3 years from the day you buy. Your certificate PDF is yours to keep.
What is the free refresher?
Lift College recommends refreshing this course every 3 years. When your date comes round, you can retake the latest version free and get a new certificate. We email you 30 days before.
Does it count towards my CPD?
Yes. The course is 2 hours of learning, shown on your CPD certificate issued by Lift College, so you can log the hours in your CPD record.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. Ask within 14 days of paying and we refund you in full.
Can my employer pay?
Yes. Your receipt shows the course, the date and the amount paid, and you can pass it to your employer. Buying for a team? Open a free organisation account: every course is £16.99, and you can pay by card or invoice with your PO.
Can my team do this course in another language?
Yes, on an organisation account with 10 or more places. Your team can study Time Management Course in Polish, Romanian, Punjabi, Urdu or Welsh, prepared within 1 working day of your order. The final test and the certificate stay in the English course name, so the certificate is the one every employer recognises. Tell us the languages you need when you order or ask for a quote.
