No. The written exam centre sits in Gateshead, close to the Metrocentre and just off the A1 south of the River Tyne. Metrocentre station is a seven minute train ride from Newcastle Central, and the centre serves the wider Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland and Durham catchment within about 30 to 45 minutes.

Where do A-Level science students complete CPAC practicals near Newcastle?

CPAC practicals for A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics run at the Newcastle Science Lab, hosted by Newcastle High School for Girls, Tankerville Terrace, Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne NE2 3BA. This is a different building from the Gateshead written centre, on the Newcastle side of the Tyne. There is free on-site parking and no catering, so bring a packed lunch.

When are the Newcastle CPAC session dates?

The Spring 2027 Biology, Chemistry and Physics blocks at the Newcastle Science Lab are still to be confirmed. Twelve practicals run over four consecutive days and all four days must be completed for a pass endorsement, so contact us for the current dates before you plan around them.
