Best online COSHH courses in the UK (2026 comparison)

What to compare in an online COSHH course

Regulation 12 says employers must give anyone who may be exposed to a hazardous substance "suitable and sufficient information, instruction and training", adapted to take account of significant changes in the work. HSE asks employers to keep basic training records. Neither names a course or a refresh date, so your employer decides what you need and adds the details of the substances you use. When you compare courses, check:

• Coverage. Hazard pictograms, routes into the body, safety data sheets, the COSHH assessment, the hierarchy of controls, PPE, storage and spills.
• The law for where you work. The 2002 Regulations cover Great Britain; Northern Ireland has its own 2003 Regulations.
• Length and test. The courses we checked run from 25 minutes to around 3 hours. Check the pass mark and whether retakes cost extra.
• A certificate that works as a record. The course, hours, completion date and a refresh or expiry date, with a way to verify it.
• Refresh period and cost. Providers recommend 1 to 3 years. Lift College recommends every 12 months, and the refresher is free.
• The price a buyer pays. Some providers print a price before tax.

Lift College's COSHH Training ends with a final test, 80% to pass with unlimited free retakes, and a certificate that shows your hours of learning, completion date and a recommended refresh date, with a unique number and a verification link.

What each provider shows on its own COSHH page, checked 26 October 2026. Lift College is listed first. Prices are what a buyer pays.

"Check provider" means the provider's page did not show that detail when we checked. Prices change, so check each provider before you buy.
