IGCSE private candidate fees: what you pay for the exam

In short

As an IGCSE private candidate you pay the exam centre: Pearson says your centre charges any exam fees, and centres may add administration fees that Pearson does not control. On Lift College's +Exams plan, the Pearson Edexcel entry fee and the Tutors & Exams centre fee are included in your price, and Lift books your seat.

What an IGCSE exam fee covers

An IGCSE exam fee covers the Pearson Edexcel entry fee plus the fee the exam centre charges for your seat. On Study you pay the centre yourself. On +Exams both are included and Lift College books your seat. The course itself, your teaching, tutor and marked practice, is paid for separately.

+Exams prices are higher for English Language and Science (Double Award); see each course page.

How the plans work

  • 7-day free trial: nothing to pay today and nothing is charged until day 8. Cancel before then and pay nothing.
  • 14-day money back on every payment.
  • No contract, no credit check and no finance agreement. If you stop paying, you stop studying.
  • Pay today and your price is fixed for life. Paying today saves up to 17%. Paying yearly gives 12 months for the price of 9.
  • +Exams paid monthly has a 9-month expected term because exam fees are built in. You can cancel any time with no exit fee, but unused exam credit is lost. No term applies if you pay yearly.

Paying a centre yourself as a private candidate

If you choose Study, you book directly with a centre as a private candidate and pay its published fee. Pearson says you pay your centre any exam fees, and centres may add administration fees that Pearson does not control. Ask the centre for its full price before you book. Our guide to GCSE exam fees explains private candidate fees for UK GCSEs.

Questions

How much are IGCSE exams?
It depends on the centre. Pearson says private candidates pay their centre any exam fees, and centres may add administration fees that Pearson does not control, so ask the centre for its full price before you book. On Lift College's +Exams plan, the entry fee and centre fee are already included.
Are Edexcel private candidate fees paid to the centre?
Yes. Pearson says you pay your centre any exam fees, and the centre makes your entry and issues your timetable and results. On Lift College's +Exams plan you pay Lift, and the Pearson Edexcel entry fee and Tutors & Exams centre fee are included.
Do IGCSE private candidate fees include a centre admin fee?
Not always. Pearson says centres may add their own administration fees, which Pearson does not control. Ask the centre for its full price, including any admin fee, before you book.
