About this course

Safeguarding Adults Level 2

Adults at risk are often harmed by people they know and trust. You may be the one who notices a change, an unexplained bruise or money going missing. Level here means safeguarding competency level. Level 2 is for staff in regular contact with adults at risk.

This course covers what the Care Act 2014 expects workers to know about adult safeguarding. You learn the six safeguarding principles, the types of abuse and neglect, and how mental capacity shapes what you do. You learn to respond to a concern, keep the person at the centre, and record and report it. Prevent and concerns about people in positions of trust are covered too, with notes for Scotland and Wales.

By the end you can
  • Explain who is an adult at risk under the Care Act 2014
  • Apply the six safeguarding principles to everyday situations
  • Recognise the types of abuse and neglect, including self-neglect
  • Apply the five principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Keep the person's wishes at the centre, in line with Making Safeguarding Personal
  • Record a concern accurately, separating fact from opinion
  • Report concerns and escalate worries about people in positions of trust
