Safeguarding Children Level 2
If you work with children, you are often the person a child trusts enough to tell. Level 2 is about being ready for that moment. Here, Level means safeguarding competency level, the depth of knowledge your role needs. It is not a course grade.
This course goes beyond awareness. You learn how abuse, neglect and exploitation show up, which children are more vulnerable, and what to do with a disclosure. You learn to record and report concerns, share information safely and raise concerns about adults in your setting. Content reflects Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026 and Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026, with notes for Scotland and Wales.
- Recognise physical, emotional and sexual abuse and neglect in children
- Spot signs of exploitation, online harm, FGM and radicalisation
- Identify children who may be more vulnerable to harm
- Respond to a disclosure without leading questions or false promises
- Record concerns accurately and pass them on without delay
- Share information appropriately under your setting's procedures
- Raise concerns about the conduct of another adult or colleague
7 short modules, 3 hours in total.
