Is there a free Level 3 childcare course online?

In short

Lift College's Level 3 childcare course is not free, but you can start it on a 7-day free trial and pay nothing if you cancel before day 8. It is the Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) (RQF), awarded by TQUK, 610/3598/1, which the DfE lists as full and relevant at Level 3.

Is the Level 3 childcare course free?

No. Lift College charges for the Level 3, but every course starts with a 7-day free trial, nothing is charged until day 8, and every payment has a 14-day money back guarantee. There is no contract and no credit check. For other routes into a Level 3 and what they cost, see our guide to Level 3 childcare qualification routes and cost.

How the Level 3 is studied

You work through each unit online with a named UK tutor. For the Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) (RQF), you also build evidence in the setting where you work or volunteer.

Do I need a placement?

Only for the Level 3. You must complete and evidence at least 300 hours in an Ofsted registered setting that follows the EYFS, either employed or as a volunteer. Ofsted registers early years settings in England, so you need a setting there to complete the placement.

How am I assessed?

There are no exams on any of our early years courses. The Level 3 uses a portfolio for knowledge, observation of your practice for skills and witness statements where appropriate. Work is marked in 5 to 7 working days and graded pass only. If a unit is referred, you resubmit at no extra cost. TQUK, the awarding body, quality assures the marking and issues your certificate.
