Sexual Harassment Training
Since 26 October 2024, employers have had a legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of their employees. From 30 October 2026, that becomes all reasonable steps. Employers will also be liable for harassment by third parties, such as customers and clients.
This course covers what the Equality Act 2010 expects workers and managers to know about sexual harassment. You learn what counts, how to step in safely and how to report it. Managers learn how to respond to a report fairly and quickly. It supports your employer's duty to prevent sexual harassment before it happens.
- Define sexual harassment as the Equality Act 2010 describes it
- Recognise sexual harassment in person, online and at work events
- Explain the employer's duty to take all reasonable steps to prevent it
- Describe how the law covers harassment by customers and clients
- Step in safely when you witness harassment
- Report concerns and support a colleague who reports
- Respond to a report fairly and promptly as a manager
5 short modules, 1 hour in total.

Questions about Sexual Harassment Training
Is sexual harassment training a legal requirement?
The law does not name a specific course. It requires employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, and from 30 October 2026, all reasonable steps. Training staff is one practical step an employer can take.
What counts as sexual harassment at work?
Unwanted conduct of a sexual nature that violates someone's dignity or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment. It can be words, messages, images, jokes or touching. It does not have to be intended.
What changes on 30 October 2026?
Acas says employers must then take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, not just some. Employers will also be liable for harassment by third parties, such as customers or clients, unless they took all reasonable steps to prevent it.
Does this cover harassment by customers or clients?
Yes. The course explains how the law covers third parties from 30 October 2026. It shows what you and your manager can do to prevent and respond to it.
How is this different from Bullying and Harassment Training?
This course focuses on sexual harassment and the employer's legal duty to prevent it. Bullying and Harassment Training covers wider workplace behaviour, including bullying, which has no specific law of its own.
How long do I keep access?
You keep your access for as long as Lift College offers the course, and never less than 3 years from the day you buy. Your certificate PDF is yours to keep.
What is the free refresher?
Lift College recommends refreshing this course every 12 months. When your date comes round, you can retake the latest version free and get a new certificate. We email you 30 days before.
Does it count towards my CPD?
Yes. The course is 1 hour of learning, shown on your CPD certificate issued by Lift College, so you can log the hours in your CPD record.
Can I get my money back?
Yes. Ask within 14 days of paying and we refund you in full.
Can my employer pay?
Yes. Your receipt shows the course, the date and the amount paid, and you can pass it to your employer. Lift College is not VAT registered, so no VAT is charged. Buying for a team? Ask about team enrolment and the team will help.
