About this course

Slips, Trips and Falls Training

A spill left on the floor, a trailing cable or a box on the stairs can cause a serious fall. Most slips and trips are easy to prevent once you know what to look for and act on it straight away.

This course covers what the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 expect workers to know about floors and walkways. You learn the common causes of slips and trips, how good housekeeping and cleaning prevent them and how to report hazards. It also covers the basics of the Work at Height Regulations 2005, including using ladders and stepladders safely.

By the end you can
  • Identify common causes of slips and trips at work
  • Deal with spills and contamination quickly and safely
  • Keep walkways, stairs and traffic routes free from obstructions
  • Explain the role of flooring, lighting and footwear in preventing slips
  • Describe the avoid, prevent, minimise approach to work at height
  • Check and use ladders and stepladders sensibly for short, low-risk tasks
  • Report floor and access hazards through the right channels
