Manual Handling Training
Lifting a box, pushing a trolley or moving stock looks simple. Done badly, day after day, it can injure your back, shoulders and arms. The law expects employers to avoid hazardous manual handling where they can, assess what remains and reduce the risk.
This course covers what the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 expect workers to know. You learn the avoid, assess, reduce approach, the TILEO factors behind every assessment and a step-by-step lifting technique. You also learn how to use the safe systems your employer puts in place.
- Explain what manual handling is and how injuries happen
- Describe the avoid, assess, reduce approach in the regulations
- Use the TILEO factors to think through a handling task
- Plan a lift before you start
- Apply good handling technique when lifting and putting down loads
- Use the safe systems of work and equipment your employer provides
- Know when to stop and ask for help
5 short modules, 1 hour in total.
