Prevent Duty Training
You can do Prevent duty training online in the UK with Lift College's Prevent Duty Training course. It is 1 hour of learning in 4 short modules, covering what the Prevent duty is, how radicalisation happens, the signs to notice, the Notice, Check, Share approach, and how to refer a concern to Channel or Prevent Multi-Agency Panels. It costs £19.99, pay once, and your CPD certificate issued by Lift College is ready the same day you pass. Lift College recommends a refresh every 12 months, and the refresher is free.
The Prevent duty is a legal duty on specified authorities to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. It sits alongside safeguarding, and the people who make it work are front line staff who notice a change in someone and know what to do next. Statutory guidance expects those staff to have training that matches their role.
This course is a statutory awareness course, not a safeguarding level. It explains the duty, how people can be drawn towards extremist ideas, the signs that something may be wrong, and the Notice, Check, Share approach used across England, Wales and Scotland. It covers how a concern is checked with your designated lead and, where needed, referred to Channel in England and Wales or a Prevent Multi-Agency Panel in Scotland. Your certificate evidences CPD hours on the Prevent duty.
- Explain what the Prevent duty is and which organisations it applies to
- Describe how radicalisation happens and why no single profile exists
- Notice changes in behaviour, language or online activity that may be a concern
- Check a concern with your designated safeguarding or Prevent lead
- Share a concern through the right route, including Channel or a Prevent Multi-Agency Panel
- Recognise the role of British values and critical thinking in building resilience
- Keep records and respect confidentiality when a concern is raised
4 short modules, 1 hour in total.

What learners say about Lift College
Questions about Prevent Duty Training
Is online Prevent duty training valid?
Your employer decides what training you need. This course covers the awareness the statutory guidance expects of staff in specified authorities, and your certificate records the CPD hours. Your employer may also ask you to complete their own or the Home Office's Prevent learning, and this course sits alongside that.
How often should Prevent duty training be done?
The guidance does not set a fixed interval, but most schools, colleges and NHS trusts refresh Prevent awareness every year with their safeguarding training. Lift College recommends every 12 months, and the refresher is free.
What is Notice, Check, Share?
It is the approach used across England, Wales and Scotland. Notice a change that worries you, check it with your designated lead rather than acting alone, and share it through the proper route if the concern stands up.
What is Channel?
Channel is the voluntary, confidential programme in England and Wales that supports people at risk of being drawn into terrorism. Scotland uses Prevent Multi-Agency Panels. Both bring agencies together to agree support, and neither is a criminal process.
Does the Prevent duty apply in Northern Ireland?
No. Section 26 applies in England, Wales and Scotland. This course is written for those three nations and explains the differences between England and Wales and Scotland.
How long do I keep access?
You keep your access for as long as Lift College offers the course, and never less than 3 years from the day you buy. Your certificate PDF is yours to keep.
What is the free refresher?

Can I get my money back?
