International A Levels
Edexcel International A Level subjects: choosing yours
Lift College teaches four Edexcel International A Level subjects online: Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Each has six unit exams. Choose the subjects your target degree asks for, check whether it needs evidence of laboratory practical work, and combine with UK A Levels if you need other subjects, such as Psychology or English Literature.
The four subjects at Lift College

Choosing subjects for your degree
- Mathematics: the course page lists maths, engineering, computing, physics, economics and finance degrees among those that accept it for entry.
- Biology, Chemistry and Physics: some science and medical courses also look for evidence of laboratory practical skills, which these qualifications do not include. Check the entry requirements of each course first, and see what A Levels you need for medicine.
- Every degree sets its own subject list, so start from the entry requirements of the courses you are considering.
Recommended starting points
There are no formal entry qualifications, but each course recommends a starting point. Mathematics recommends grade 6 or above at GCSE or International GCSE Mathematics. Biology and Chemistry recommend grade 6 or above in that science, Combined Science or Double Award Science. Physics recommends grade 6 in Physics or a combined science and grade 6 in Mathematics.
Planning your units
Because each unit has its own exam, you can spread the work. For Mathematics, most learners take P1, P2 and one applied unit first, then P3, P4 and the second applied unit. P1, P2 and one of M1 or S1 make up the International AS. Your tutor helps you plan which units to sit in which series.
Subjects Lift College does not offer as International A Levels
Lift College does not teach Psychology, Sociology or English Literature as International A Levels. For these, see the A Level courses online, which are AQA and Eduqas A Levels on the Ofqual register. Each subject is a separate enrolment, so you can mix the two routes. Lift College reduces the price when you study more than one course: 2 courses save 5%, 3 save 10%, and 4 or more save 15%.
