Yes. For care workers in the UK, online CPD is a practical way to keep the knowledge your role needs up to date around shifts, with a dated certificate for your training record each time. Lift College offers 12 care-relevant CPD courses, from the Care Certificate to safeguarding, first aid and food hygiene, each £19.99, pay once. Courses run from 1 to 12 hours in short modules, and your CPD certificate issued by Lift College is ready the same day you pass, with a free refresher every 12 months or 3 years depending on the course.
Why ongoing training matters in care
Training is built into how care services are run. New care and health support workers are expected to meet the 16 Care Certificate standards, which Skills for Care, NHS England and Skills for Health updated in March 2025. Safeguarding training follows the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 for adults, and the Children Acts 1989 and 2004 for children, and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 expects employers to provide the information, instruction, training and supervision staff need to work safely.
Your employer decides the training your role needs, based on the people you support and the work you do. Online CPD gives you a simple way to complete that training, show it and keep it current.

What makes online CPD worth it for care workers
- It fits around shifts. Lift College courses are split into short modules you can finish in one sitting or across several, on any device, picking up where you left off.
- You know you have learnt it. A knowledge check follows each module, then a final test. You need 80% to pass, with unlimited free retakes.
- You get a record the same day. Your CPD certificate issued by Lift College is a PDF that records the course, the hours of learning, your completion date and a recommended refresh-by date. Each one has a unique certificate number and a verification link, so your manager can confirm it in seconds.
- Refreshers come round on time. Each course has a recommended refresh date. Lift College emails you 30 days before, and you retake the latest version free.
- The cost is clear. Every course is £19.99, pay once, for one learner. No subscription, nothing added at checkout, and no VAT charged because Lift College is not VAT registered.
The CPD courses care workers use most
These are the Lift College courses most relevant to care work. Every course is £19.99, pay once, and each has its own guide.
New to care. The Care Certificate teaches the knowledge behind all 16 Care Certificate standards in 16 modules. Your employer observes your practice at work and signs off your Care Certificate on the national template. Comparing options? Read free vs paid Care Certificate online.
Safeguarding adults. Safeguarding Adults Level 2 is for care workers, support workers, health care assistants and personal assistants in regular contact with adults at risk, and covers what the Care Act 2014 expects workers to know. Safeguarding Adults Level 3 is for registered managers, team leaders, nurses and senior staff who weigh risk and contribute to section 42 enquiries.
Safeguarding children. If your role brings you into contact with children or families, Safeguarding Children Level 2 and Level 3 follow the safeguarding competency levels. Safeguarding Adults and Children Training is a clear starting point covering both.
First aid and medical. First Aid Training covers CPR and defibrillators, choking, bleeding, burns, seizures and recognising a stroke, written around the Resuscitation Council UK 2025 guidelines. Anaphylaxis Training covers spotting anaphylaxis and using an adrenaline auto-injector, for anyone caring for people with known allergies. Medical Gas Safety Training is for staff in care homes, hospices and clinics that use oxygen cylinders, and is written around HTM 02-01.
Moving, wellbeing and food. Manual Handling Training covers avoid, assess, reduce, the TILEO risk factors and good lifting technique. Mental Health Awareness Training helps you notice when someone is struggling and start a supportive conversation. Food Hygiene Level 2 is for anyone who prepares or serves food, including in care homes.
How often to refresh
Lift College sets a recommended refresh period for every course and prints the refresh-by date on your certificate:
- Every 12 months: Safeguarding Children Level 2 and Level 3, First Aid Training, Anaphylaxis Training and Medical Gas Safety Training.
- Every 3 years: the Care Certificate, Safeguarding Adults Level 2 and Level 3, Safeguarding Adults and Children Training, Manual Handling Training, Mental Health Awareness Training and Food Hygiene Level 2.
Your employer may set its own schedule for your role. When your Lift College refresh date arrives, the refresher is free.
Keeping your CPD record
A good CPD record shows what you learnt, when and for how long. Every Lift College course shows its hours of learning, and your CPD certificate records them, so you can log the hours in your CPD record, bring the certificate to supervision or appraisal, and share the verification link with your manager. You keep access to each course for as long as Lift College offers it, and never less than 3 years from the day you buy. Your certificate PDF is yours to keep.
Paying for your training
Each course is £19.99, pay once. If your employer pays, your receipt shows the course, the date and the amount paid. Managers buying for a team can ask about team enrolment: several learners at once, one invoice, and a certificate for each person the day they pass. Changed your mind? Ask within 14 days of paying for a full refund. Learners need to be 16 or over.
